Season highlights - a year one beyond expected

What a season we have had! We are very proud of what the team has achieved in our inaugural season.  The efforts have also been noticed by others, last week Langrenn.com and Proxcskiing.com said; “During the first season with Team Aker Dæhlie, they have delivered a track record worthy of a national team”.  

Many of our athletes have consistently performed beyond the expected. We are proud to share some of the highlights. Thanks to great results on a wide variety of ski arenas and venues we have received great visibility for the team and our mission. Now the work continues with building an even stronger team for our second season. Thanks to everyone that has contributed – together with you we look forward to continue to improve as a team, and to contribute to positive changes in the world of cross country skiing.

Team Aker Dæhlie season 22/23 highlights:

  • Best Pro Team  in the FIS Ski Classics season 22/23

  • Astrid Øyre Slind – 5 victories in the FIS Ski Classics Season 22/23, 7 times on the podium (Ski Classics). 3 starts in the FIS World Championships Cross Country Skiing in Planica, Slovenia, 1 individual bronze medal and a gold medal in the relay. Multiple starts in the FIS World Cup, nr. 2 in the 50km WC skate mass start in Holmenkollen and nr. 3 in the 20km WC classic mass start in Les Rousses, France.

  • Mikael Gunnulfsen earns 2 individual starts in the FIS World Cup, nr. 4 in WC Lahti. Winner of the mixed relay at the FIS World Cup, Beitostølen. Bronze medal in the Norwegian Championships on the 10km. Winner ofthe 10km individual start at the Norwegian Cup Åsen. Overall winner of the Norwegian Distance Cup 22/23.

  • Max Novak – Number 3 overall in the Ski Classics 22/23, 3 times on the podium (Ski Classics).

  • Silje Øyre Slind – 2nd in Vasaloppet, 3 times on the podium and overall number 8 in the Ski Classics ranking.

  • Petter Stakston – Earns first podium in the Ski Classics, Number 2 overall in the Ski Classics 22/23 Youth Jersey, and number 8 in the overall ranking.

  • Mattis Stenshagen earns multiple starts in the FIS World Cup, 4 times top 10 in WC. Winner of the 20km mass start in the Norwegian cup race at Åsen that also earned him a spot at the FIS World Cup 50km in Holmenkollen. 2 times top 7 in the Scandinavian Cup.

  • Amund Korsæth – Earned 2 starts in the FIS World Cup and participated at the FIS U23 World Championships in Canada. Winner of the FIS Roller Ski World Cup 2022. Number 3 in the 20km classic mass start at the Norwegian Cup at Gålå. Number 4 in the sprint at the Scandinavian Cup in Østersund.

  • Stian Hoelgaard – 2 times on the Podium in the Ski Classics 22/23.

  • Isabell Valen – Participant at the FIS Para Skiing World Champions in Sweden. Gold medal during the Norwegian Championships. First sitting paralympic female athlete to finish the La Diagonela, Ski Classics.

  • Kjartan Haugen – Participant at the FIS Para Skiing World Champions in Sweden. Silver medal in the relay. Medal in the Norwegian Championships. Participated in Vasaloppet 2023.

  • Vebjørn Moen – Number 2 overall in the Ski Classics 22/23 Sprint Jersey.

  • 3 men top 10 in the Ski Classics season 22/23 overall (Max nr. 3, Petter nr. 8 and Stian nr. 10) and 2 female top 10 (Astrid nr. 5 and Silje nr. 8).

  • Patricija Eiduka (LAT) winner of the overall FIS World Cup Cross Country Skiing U23. Best World Cup finish number 5.

  • Next Gen Athlete, Lars Heggen performed well  at the FIS Jr World Championships in Canada , silver medal in the 10km individual skate and gold medal in the mixed relay. He won 2 gold medals and one bronze during the Norwegian Championships for juniors.

  • Next Gen Athlete, Elling Broberg wins Nordisk Landskamp in sprint.

  • Our other Next Gen athletes, Hedda Faraasen Alme, Emil Moore Carlsen, Endre Lykken and Helena Paulsen, have continously ranked at the top of the list for their age groups.

  • Team GB, Andrew Musgrave earns a podium finish in the FIS World Cup at Beitostølen, and was multiple times in the top 10 during the season. Finishing number 8 overall in the long-distance FIS World Cup and number 12 overall. Number 9 in the 15km skate during the FIS World Championships in Planica, Slovenia. Number 3 in the Ski Classics Reistadløpet.

  • Team GB with James Clugnet and Andrew Young finished number 6 in the team sprint event duringthe FIS World Championships in Planica, Slovenia.

  • Team GB, silver medal for Scott Meenagh in the FIS Para Skiing World Champions in Sweden.

  • Best FIS World Cup finish James Clugnet, number 6.

  • Best FIS World Cup finish Andrew Young, number 15.

  • Best FIS World Cup finish Joe Davis, number 30.

  • Joe Davis participated in the FIS World Championships Cross Country Skiing U23 in Canada, finishing in position 13 and 15. He also won the NCAA Championships in the skate event.
